Barbeque Chicken Pizza al la Ryan

I love pizza. But pepperoni and cheese gets boring after a while, so we always like to try something new. The barbeque sauce is actually wing sauce that B found. We’ve had pork barbeque in the past and B brought home this Morris wing sauce. It was love at first taste. It’s the secret ingredient, Morris Honey BBQ wing sauce.

To recreate this, you’ll need:

  • 1 chicken breast
  • 1 can of Pillsbury pizza dough
  • chopped white onion
  • chopped cilantro
  • shredded cheddar cheese
  • shredded mozzarella cheese
  • chopped tomato (I used grape tomatoes because that’s what we had)
  • olive oil
  • Mrs. Dash table seasoning

I decided to grill the chicken. I took the chicken put a little olive oil, Mrs. Dash table seasoning and some of the wing sauce, just enough to coat it. Grilled it for about 16 minutes at 500, knowing we were going to chop it up and finish it in the oven.

Meanwhile, I preheated the oven to 400 (according to the pizza dough can). I wanted to make deep dish pizza, so I opted for a smaller square baking pan, instead of a baking sheet. Spread the dough out in the pan, then added a thin layer of barbeque sauce, tomatoes, white onions and cilantro. Then put that in the oven for about 7 minutes, so the dough cooks a little.

Pull the chicken off the grill and pull the pan out after the 5 minutes. Chop the chicken up into small cubes and add to the pizza. Add a layer of cheddar and mozzarella cheese.

Back into the oven for another 7 minutes. Then it’s done!

I gotta say, this is probably the  best homemade pizza I’ve ever had. If I can do it, you can do it.
